Installation of the Parallel Port with Notebook PCs






Windows Vista


After insertion of the card into the PC Card slot, let Vista find a driver. After it fails to find one, please follow the steps below:


Windows XP Professional and Home Edition

The Card installs automatically as Plug and Play standard parallel port.
You need only to insert the Card into PC Card slot of your Notebook PC
for automatic installation of an add-on parallel port. The drivers for the card are provided by XP operating system.


Windows 2000

The Card auto-installs as Plug and Play standard parallel port.
You need only to insert the Card into PC Card slot of your Notebook PC
for automatic installation of an add-on parallel port.


Windows ME

After insertion of the card into the PC Card slot - "New Hardware Found" window will appear followed by "Add New Hardware Wizard" window. To install the card, please follow the steps below:
Windows 98 - (Second Edition)

After insertion of the card into the PC Card slot - "New Hardware Found" window will appear followed by "Add New Hardware Wizard" window. To install the card, please follow the steps below:
Windows 98 and Interim Version of Window 95B (OS-R2)

After inserting the Card into PC slot, the "New Hardware Found" box appears, followed by Device Driver Wizard box. To install the Card, please follow the procedure below:
Windows 95

After inserting the Card into PC slot, the "New Hardware Found" box appears. To install the Card, please follow the procedure below: After installation with Windows, the Card features full Plug and Play capability (automatic self configuration upon insertion, confirmed by two beeps). Windows installs the Card as LPT2 if your PC has LPT1 already installed. If your PC has two PC Card slots, you may install second Trans PC Card as LPT3 repeating the steps above for installation. Windows assigns LPT2 to the Card in the first slot and LPT3 to the Card in the second slot during power-up.


Windows NT4

Windows NT4 does not support PC Cards, You need to use the CardWare version 6.31 from APSoft - web site: www.tssc.de to enable the Parallel Port on the card.

DOS or Windows 3.x

To install the parallel port, under DOS, please use UPP.com which enables the Card as a standard parallel port. The UPP.com is provided on the disk or please download UPP.com from Installation Section of our web site www.transdigital.net. The port enabling program UPP.com, writes directly to Intel or Intel compatible PCMCIA controler chip and installs the Card as LPT1, LPT2, LPT3. The default is LPT2.


Linux

To install the Card as a Plug and Play add-on standard parallel port, you need to use Linux with kernel supporting PCMCIA (kernel 2.2 or later) and PC Card Services. All required installation information for Card Services is provided in CIS (Card Information Structure) on the flash of the Card.
